Tough EPO jet - Simple, Fast and Fun - NEW Korean War paint scheme |
Our F-86 has a 27-1/2 in. wingspan and is 27-1/2 in.long with a 17 oz. flying weight. This receiver-ready EPO jet is pre-painted and ready to assemble in about an hour. Designed for simple everyday flying, the model is hand launched and lands on the reinforced drop tanks. Wings are reinforced with carbon fiber tubes for strength and rigidity. Included is a 64mm ducted fan with a 4300Kv Outrunner brushless motor and 30 amp controller with BEC. A 1600mAh 3-cell Lipo battery supplies power with genuine Deans Ultra connectors. Three 9-gram servos are pre-installed and ready to plug into your radio equipment, a minimum of 3 channels are required.
The large battery hatch is held in place by magnets making battery swaps quick and easy. The F-86 is easy to handlaunch it has plenty of power. The model handles easily and is a solid performer with good speed and a quick roll rate. Landings are low anxiety events due to the slow approach speed and the tough airframe.
Full throttle flight speed is around 65MPH and flight time on the included 1600mAH LiPo pack is 5-6 minutes.
What is EPO Foam? - EPO Foam is similar to elapor and other durable foam used for building model airplanes. It is denser and more forgiving to knicks and scratches than EPS or "Ice Chest" foam. It holds up well over time and resists dings, dents, and minor crash damage.

The other two reviews of this aircraft are poor, so I thought is was necessary to present a different perspective. After purchasing and flying the Mig for about a month, I decided to buy the Jolley Roger. The Mig has been a very nice plane for the money, and with the exception of two small launch mishaps when I first started flying the Mig, I have had zero issues launching and flying with the stock battery and power system. I now have about a dozen flights in on that plane and enjoy it every time.
When the F-86 arrived, I was immediately impressed with the quality of the aircraft, which was similar to the Mig. The assembly was straight forward and only took me about an hour and 30 minutes. All of my servos worked fine, and the plane balanced out perfectly with the battery all the way forward.
I to the plane out for the maiden flight, and she launched easily with an underhanded toss (which is exactly how I launch the Mig). I did have to put in about 5 clicks of up elevator on my DX6i, but after that, she flew virtually hands-off for 3 1/2 minutes. I could actually have flown longer, but on initial flights, I never like to push it. As far as performance is concerned, she is not the fastest EDF that I have (my Tigershark is MUCH faster), but that does not mean that she is slow, either. What I will say is that this plane flies in a very scale manner for an F-86, which is fine with me! As for landings, the plane glides predictably and landing only requires a small flare right at the end.
I now have a few additional flights in, and all have been very enjoyable. I personally have not experienced any of the servo issues that others have mentioned, and in my opinion, the power system is well matched to the plane. Sure, you can make it faster, and the beauty is that this is easy to do. However, for the money this plane is a great value and I will probably buy the Skyblazers version as well when it is back in stock.

This is my first jet and I love it. it flies great. I have around twenty flights on it. the jet flies smooth and steady, nice rolls and loops. One thing to check is to make sure you set the cg icorrect. if the jet is nose heavy it will dig a hole on launch. other than that pretend you are in the Korean war and chasing some migs. You will have a ball. use the recommended battery for the jet. I get around 4 minutes of full out flight. I tried to use a larger battery, 1800ma, but the weight was just too much. one thing i will note is to strenghten the mounting plywood board inside the plane. one nose in and the board becomes dislodged. i used some 5 minute epoxy to strenghten up the joints. It is really a great bang for your buck.

Yeppers two stars.
Only because it looks good.
And here's why...
Maiden flight (after a through pre-flight) ... about 30 seconds in... the elevator stops responding to "climb" commands. Plane noses in after, blowing apart the front of the airframe.
Repair... repair... replace elevator servo, triple check the aileron servos while I'm there.
Second flight... Wow!!! Flies great, I need to dial down the elevator throw. Fly out the rest of the battery with a grin and a perfect landing on thick grass.
Third flight... two minutes in... the right aileron intermittently hangs in various positions. Spirals into the field, total loss of the air frame.
Should I have replaced ALL three servos after the failure of the first? Yes. Oh well. Will I spend $90 on the replacement airframe... hmmm, perhaps.

Hello,
This is the first F-86 Sabre "Jolley Roger" EPO Jet ARF that I purchased, I purchase a couple of the Mig-15 models, well as for as I am concern the Mig-15 has much better quality than this F-86 Sabre "Jolley Roger" EPO Jet ARF, I would not at this time recommend this jet to anyone, it had 2 bad servos and does not have the added strength on the nose and the bottom as the Mig-15, I believes that HL will make it right, they have not let me down yet, I will let you know..
