Hi-Starts and Accessories

These are 100 foot UNSPLICED tubes of latex rubber. They make the best possible "Hi-Starts" for RC sail planes because they can be stretched 5 to 7 times their own length. The tubes are colored not only for better visibility when they are laying on the ground, but also because the color dies give the rubber protection from ultraviolet radiation and ozone. In addition to the color dies the tubing also has a small amount of a microcrystaline wax in it. This wax migrates to the surface of the tubing appearing as a whitish dust. The purpose of this wax is to provide further protection against ultraviolet rays. When not in use these Hi-Starts should be stored in a brown paper bag or box. A waxed bag or box is even better. Storing them this way should ensure years of excellent performance from your Hi-Starts.

Easier than throwing a handlaunched RC sailplane. This is a short hi-start — you don’t have to walk far to retrieve the launch line. Just drive the peg into the ground and hook the ring to the glider towhook.

Walk back until you have enough tension and then release the sailplane either from on the ground or from standup height. This is lighter latex tubing than our smallest Hi-start HIS001 and shorter length. Gives equivalent of your best possible hand throw of RC gliders up to 60" span and up to 16 oz. flying weight. Includes 25 ft. latex hi start tubing, roll of fluorescent nylon line, tent peg, ring, instructions.

11" diameter, rip-stop nylon parachute, includes steel key ring at top of chute for attaching glider tow hook, larger steel ring pre-installed on guide strings for attachment to your winch or hi-start line.

These chutes have a loop on the top of the canopy which engages the glider towhook. During launch the chute trails under the tension of the launch cord. When the glider is ready for release the cord slackens and the chute opens and drifts the launch cord back downwind to the launching point.

2-1/8" wide, 5" tall, 1-1/2" thick, tripod thread at base for stationary use. Want to know how fast the wind is blowing at your field or slope? This handheld wind meter is omni-directional and accurately measures the wind speed without orienting the unit into the wind. The large LCD display shows the current wind speed, maximum wind speed, average wind speed and a bar graph of current Beaufort values. Wind speed can be measured in miles/hour, kilometers/hour, meters/second, knots. The range of measurement is from 1-1/2 to 93 MPH. Comes with battery (approx 10 year life) and a Nylon protective bag.
