MPX4192 EasyStar Electric RC Outfit:
Grade:

1. What is the MAIN reason that this outfit is good for a beginner?
The EasyStar is easy to build and an easy flying stable airplane. Check out the online video.
2. Instructions and/or plans:
10
The instructions are superb! The instructions are the BEST I've ever seen. The plans were easy to follow. They used written instructions and photo illustrations. I was impressed that the instructions came in German, French, English, Italian, and Spanish. It would be difficult to make a mistake when building this plane because the instructions are done so well. The instructions have a section titled "First flight…" The information it contains is very helpful to the beginner whether or not they have help during their first few flights.
3. Assembly difficulty:
9
Assembling the EasyStar is simple. It was easier to build than any other plane I've built. From start to finish it only took me about 1 hour which included decals and watching TV. A true beginner may take up to 2 hours. One aspect that made assembly so easy and fast is that you can use our fast drying CA glue. This saves a lot of time. As always I would recommend fitting parts in place before gluing.
4. How easy is it to fly without help?
8

I won't say everyone could fly this plane, but I'd say 99% of the population could. This is now my number one recommended plane for first time flyers.

My first flight went as expected. The plane had plenty of power and it was easy to control. Prior to the first flight, I made sure my elevator and rudder were straight. I gave it an easy toss into the air. The plane was stable and had plenty of power. If you watch our video you will see David launching the plane without having the transmitter in his hands during one of our first flights. I could fly the airplane close-in or easily catch thermals. I've had several flights lasting from 20 to 30 minutes.

5. How repairable is it in case of damage during first flights?
9

The plane is made from a durable CA-safe foam. For this reason, the majority of damage a beginner might do, should be repairable at the flying field.

6. Overall recommendation:
9
There is not a better plane on the market for the beginner, or for the person wanting to go out for an enjoyable, relaxing afternoon of flying.
7. Assembly time: 2 HOURS - (An honest estimate for a beginner)
This includes all assembly and installation of motor, battery, radio equipment and complete preparation for flight.
