Tough EPO construction - impeccable flight performance |
The P-47 was the heaviest US single-engine fighter of WWII and was built in greater quantities than any other. More than half a million combat sorties were flown in P-47's between the years of 1943 and the end of the war in 1945. One of the first true multi-role fighters, the Jug was a fighter, bomber, dive-bomber and ground attack aircraft. The P-47 was also the first piston-powered fighter to exceed 500 mph.
This stunning R/C model has a 41 in. wingspan, is 35 in. long, with 258 sq. in. wing area, and weighs 27 oz. ready to fly. Nearly everything is included in the box. Just add your radio system (5 channel min.), lipo battery charger, and a small amount of 5-minute epoxy for gluing the tail feathers in place and you are ready to go. It comes pre-painted in molded EPO foam with the decals pre-applied and coated with a clear polyurethane spray for durability. The powerful outrunner brushless motor (800Kv) has plenty of power to swing the scale 11 in. 4-bladed propeller. Also included are a 30-amp speed controller, and a 3-cell 1650mAh Lipo flight battery.
The sturdy mechanical retracts are pre-installed in the wings and connected to the retract servo. The gear legs have scale gear doors attached and the tail wheel is steerable with rudder input. A complete set of illustrated instructions is supplied to help with assembly and setup as well as general tips on lipo battery care. Charge the flight battery with your 2-3 Cell Lipo battery charger and you are ready to fly.
The scale outline of the P-47 is accurately represented. Combine that with the scale 4-bladed prop and retracts, and you have a great flying package that looks terrific on the ground, taxing out to the runway or flying by with the gear up. The P-47 has solid flying manners with a very slow stall speed and predictable control response. The wide stance of the landing gear makes ground handling very solid and the steerable tail wheel keeps everything going in the proper direction. The big 4-bladed scale prop provides a lot of thrust; smooth application of power is required for a scale take-off and a little power needs to carry into the landing. It's suitable for any pilot with some aileron experience.
To add flaps, you need the following items:
Great plane! Detail is nicely done. Looks great in the air. The retracts and the 4-bladed propeller adds a realistic look on the ground and in the air. Had a little trouble with the retracts ,but other than that its a great plane. :)

I had the older version p47. To correct ground handling simply add 1/4 to 1/2 oz of stick on wheel weight
near the tail wheel. I also added 1/4 oz weights to the wing servos to stabilize the aircraft. Mine flew
perfect. Great plane very pretty in the air. Took off fast and landed very well.

Got my P47 today. Well, I'm not as impressed with it as I was with the Panther I got last week. Where should I start...The pre constuction is terrible. The fuselage has a gap all the way around and with very little pressure you can squeeze it together. Is not glued all the way around, just in a few places.Sloppy glue joints everywhere. My guess is if it hits the ground a little too hard it will split in half. A quality control sticker right on top of a wide joint!..LOL. The aileron control rod housing slides back and forth in the fuse. Not anchored! Aileron wires exposed with no tape to cover them. Loose installed parts. The foam doesn't have the same quality look as the Panther. The decals are cracked up. Just overall "Poor Quality". I know Hobby Lobby didn't build it, they just sell them but I'm not satisfied this time. My bad luck is holding out....Maybe Hobby Lobby will offer to exchange it for a another one. I gave it two stars only because all the main parts were there.

I have had this plane for about two weeks now. this was my first warbird i got it on sale for $139.99 and with free shipping i would not pay $179.99 for it. i am giving it three stars because of the ground handling, i think it is pretty horrible at ground handling, even on smoother ground it wants too nose over. with a 2200mah battery i could not even taxi cause it would just nose over i tried everything i could giving full up elevator it still nosed over. i did add some balsa wood to the landing gear to angle it forward a little bit, it helped a lot with taxing but it still wants to nose over on landing after slowing down. it handles very well in the air, after giving a good amount of down elevator and flies straight and true, very good power and handling.if the ground handling was fixed on the plane it would be a 5 star plane but with the ground handling being horrible and the price i thinking being a little high for the plane like it is.

Landing gear needed to be adjusted further forward and wheel well cut to clear front of wheel because plane would nose over during taxi at prescribed CG placement. flew good It's a good buy. Unfortunately I ordered a week too soon and paid $159.00 plus postage. would have saved about $40.00 if I had waited. Don't wait if you want a good buy

What a nice plane. I got to fly it for the product video. It looks nice on the ground, but even better in the air. The speed is nice and you can do any scale maneuver you like. The scale 4-blade prop looks awesome, and the retracts have larger heavy duty servos, so they worked nicely. Add the flaps in and you've got a pretty steller P-47! I can't wait to fly it again.

Overall quality is good. Piece of cake to assemble. Flight qualities are quite nice as well. It tend to be a little sensitive on ailerons so just a light touch is all it requires. Slows down well and makes nice landings. When taking off hold a little back on the stick until flying speed because it like to push over on the nose a little bit. One of the retracts popped out on landing and upon inspection it is only held in with silicone. Will put back in with epoxy. Nice plane! Hope to enjoy it for a long time!

Looks great especially with the included 4 blade prop. Flys really easily. I would say if you are really good with a trainer, it wouldn't be difficult to move to this. BTW, this is the most quite plane in the air I have ever flown. It feels durable, so should hold up well in a crash. The prop holds up well too(it needs to, see below)
If you get the planet 5 radio system, it has a built in speed ruducer for the 5th channel, allowing the gear to go up and down slowly.
Negatives: The landing gear is in the scale location, so it will nose over extremely easily. You almost can't taxi it, as any tiny pebble with cause the prop to hit the ground. This is also true on landing. Maybe with practice, I will get better, but right now, the prop drags every landing. Also, a minor point, the tail wheel looks a little too big to be scale, but it does work really well.

Nice unit. Received in MN in just 4 days. Simple assy. Added flap kit from LHS, worthwhile to enable slow landings. Tricky to take off-surges left with 1/2 throttle, use rudder to compensate. Nose heavy on the ground, easy to nose over. Had to learn to give up elev. to keep rear wheel on the ground, then neutral, until liftoff. Flies nicely with around 60% low rate. Plenty of power, usually fly at around 50% to 75% throttle. Does barrel rolls and loops nicely. Good in wind up to 15mph. Added minor weight to rear of belly pan to get proper CG. Nosed over on 1st landing, only minor damage. Nice details and prop. Durable EPO foam. Added servo slow down for gear as they would slam open and shut- should come with this $20 part. A few dislikes- The electronics and battery are accessed from underneath by way of the removable belly pan. I have to hold it on my knee to access or else rest the plane on the rudder which I don't care to do. Also the power lead from the ESC is quite short, making for difficult Batt. attachment and removal, and I had to buy 2 servo lead extensions to reach into the belly pan. I recommend this product.
