3-Time Award Winning Su-34 just got better - now with 360 degree thrust vectoring |
Now with 360 degree thrust vectoring for even wilder stunts - The addition of one more servo and two 360 degree vectored thrust units expands the already amazing flight envelope of the Su-34. High alpha maneuvers are easily controlled and flat spins are crazy.
This is a BIG all molded foam jet with great detail and great performance. Two 64mm fans with two 3500 Kv Outrunner brushless motors and two 45 Amp brushless speed controllers power the big jet. Take offs from a smooth runway or short grass field are quick and the initial thrust will blast the jet nearly straight up.
3 Time Award Winning Su-34 Fullback
- Best New Product, SEFF 2009
- Best Foam Jet, E-Jets International 2009
- Best New Jet, BackYard Flyer Buyer's Guide 2010
The pilots in attendance at the 2009 Southeast Electric Flight Festival (SEFF) voted the Su-34 the "Best New Product" after watching the incredible flight performance of this cutting edge aircraft. Maneuvers that simply cannot be done with other jets are routine with the 360 degree vectored thrust nozzles of the Su-34. The famous "Cobra Maneuver" can be flown as well as flips, tumbles and spins that will amaze your flying buddies.
Each nozzle is individually controlled and is mixed with elevator, aileron and rudder controls. A 7-channel computer radio (minimum) is a must. We show the step-by-step setup screens of how to program a Spektrum DX-7 with the mixing required. The jet is easy to fly and very solid in the air, however due to the setup, the model is best suited for the experienced to advanced RC pilot.
The Su-34 comes with a set of retractable landing gear with twin wheel trucks for the mains and steerable twin wheel nose gear. Each gear has its own adjustable servo for gear retraction. There are a total of 11 servos pre-installed in the jet: 2-elevator, 2-aileron, 3-vectored thrust, 3-gear retract, 1-steering. Additional items required: a 7 channel transmitter and receiver, and a battery charger for the included 4-cell lipo battery.
Assembly only takes about 1-2 hours; epoxy glue is included for gluing wing and tail parts to the fuselage. Landing gear is pre-installed as are all other servos and control surfaces. The included 4-cell 3000 mAh lipo battery pack provides about a 4-minute flight - but what an exciting 4 minutes! The Su-34 is also available in a Blue Camo version and in an Airframe Only version.

The Su-34 is undeniably a kick in the head to fly. Surprisingly easy takeoffs, awesome maneuverability in the air, and fairly easy to land. But that nose gear is a piece of crap! I've got about 20 flights on mine and I'm getting ready to install the third nose gear. It takes very little to tweak it and I strongly recommend to anyone buying this plane to go ahead and order at least one extra set of gear - you WILL need it. I'm looking at ways to re-engineer mine to see if I can overcome the problem.
Also, the included battery is pretty low quality. If I exceed 3 minutes of flight time with mine, I'm probably looking at a dead stick or low power landing. Other batteries are available with much better performance. Guess I got lucky with mine because I have no motor or ESC issues to report.
If the plane weren't soooo much fun to fly, the nose gear problem would turn me off. But for its relatively low initial cost, I still think it's worth the investment. Get yourself a better battery and a fist full of nose gears and you'll have a great time with this plane.

no problem putting it together, flight times are short 3-4 minutes with throttle management. thrust programming was not difficult.
My main complaint is the retracts!! I knew the retracts wouldn't last very long and was I right.. 5 flights of gentle touchdowns and the nosegear retract folded. very disappointing for the price I paid. Birds of this size need metal retracts!!!
other than the cheap disappointing retracts its a great flying jet.

this jet its almost perfect, the only issue is the landing gear that is very weak.

This jet is absolutely awesome in the air but needs some work to keep it there. The stock battery just isn't strong enough for this jet,,,the first battery died after two flights. I got a Turnigy 3600mAh 4S 30C battery that fit perfect and brings this jet alive. Speaking of battery,,,,this jet could have easily accommodated a battery under the canopy,,,,installing it in the belly is a pain with the two verticle fins.
The ESCs require programming about every other flight.
The retractable nose gear is WAY too weak,,,if you fly off of grass,,it won't last at all. After three sets of gear,,I finally gave up and turned mine into a hand-launch/belly landing jet. I just used fiber-glass tape to beef up the naccelles and nose for grass landings,,,,works great and flies better.
One of the fans blew out and one motor went bad. There is no access to the motors other than cutting away the naccelle and re-gluing,,,how many times can that be done?
This jet takes more work and upgrades than any of my other EDFs,,,but it is worth it when you get it in the air. It's BIG,,,it's FAST and it is MEAN!! I love flying it,,,,,working on it---not so much!!
