Spare Parts Still Available for the eRC B-25 Apache Princess EPO Twin |
Retracts with sequenced gear doors that deploy at scale speed are just the beginning. The B-25 Apache Princess also comes with navigation lights, counter-rotating props, two brushless motors, two brushless controllers, ten pre-installed servos, and a 3-cell lipoly battery pack. Constructed from tough EPO foam the B-25 is an airplane that will quickly become a favorite flyer. The ground handling is solid, the wide landing gear make takeoffs and landings a breeze.
The retractable landing gear with sequencers on the gear doors is a first in this category of airplane. They are completely pre-installed and setup, you only need to plug in some extensions during assembly. You have to see the landing gear in operation for the full effect. When the retract switch is activated after takeoff, the gear retracts at a scale-like speed and then the gear doors close. When setting up for landing, flip the switch again and the gear doors open fully, followed by the gear coming down.
The counter-rotating 3-blade propellers cancel out torque and make for very balanced flying performance. The 3-cell 2200 mAh LiPo battery is located under the canopy battery hatch for quick change. A complete photo-illustrated instruction manual is included showing each step including the balance and control throw information. Assembly should only take a couple of hours; most of the work is pre-done for you.
The B-25 is a joy to fly; its flying speed is about scale. The stall is slow and very controllable; this is where the counter-rotating props are a big advantage. Landing speed is slow, and a light landing is easy to accomplish. The working rudders allow you to slip the model into a landing if you like. Requires a 6-channel transmitter, receiver, and a lipo battery charger. Check out what others are saying about the B-25 Apache Princess.

Though I had a small servo issue for one of the landing gear doors and missing the extra set of props, Hobby Lobby corrected it after a quick call to them. Their customer service department has improved 10 fold from some not so good past experiences. Thank You Hobby Lobby for standing behind your products. Speaking of Products, this B-25 is one awesome machine anyway you look at it. As one previous customer has stated, Very Easy to hand launched and stable leaving your hand. When the daylight drops down, those wingtip lights really stand out. While assembling the aircraft, I added clear packing tape to the fuselage belly for gear up landings on the grass as it saves the belly paint and styrofoam. (Be sure to chop power completely off before touching down ...or you will lose a blade/break a prop). The there was a drawback if I were to pick one is the small "not to scale" wheels for landing in grassy areas like the field I fly from. Due to the design, you would be hard pressed to install larger wheels. That said........I am very pleased with my purchase. Hopefully Hobby Lobby will continue to bring additional eRC products like the B-25 to the market.

Unbelievable model! Had maiden flight today and was blown away by this models tracking and stability. Hand launching this bird is effortless should you chose to do so. From building to flying, if I had an option of six stars this model would get them. Just plain awesome.

Wow Factor! Right out of the box. First flight, couple clicks of trim and she soars like an eagle. I'm in love with the landing gear! It's plenty sturdy. Not like you'll need it because this bird flys slow enough to land with out flaps. You'll need to keep it under power and steadily back off throttle stick and she'll settle right in. I use my rudder low rate for runway tracking w/tons of expo and limited travel. And that keeps tracking perfect. The counter rotating props pretty much eliminate off tracking because of torque. If I could gripe, it would be 4 minute flight times. But, there is room for a bigger battery. So, I'm still gonna give it a FIVE star rating.

I had a hard time at first, my esc. got too hot and caused an engine failure...Then I needed to learn how to fly a heavy warbird...Hl took real good care of me on replacement parts and the rc groups helped in flying... I had to put the esc. on the outside to get the proper air,, for me..
Now .. I love this bird... I do low passes and get the crowd to give all kind of nice comments.. The landing gear and doors closeing at a slow pace really give this bird a nice touch.
She flys nice and stable... just keep the speed up in tight turns and power on and flair on landing and you will really enjoy this bird...Remember its a war bird and acts like one...

I received the B-25 5 days ago and have it assembled. It looks great and everything works fine. My only problem is that we have a grass flying field and I think it will need to be flown from a paved strip. I think I will have to wait to fly it when I am at a paved runway. I am wondering If anyone has flown the B-25 from a grass strip.
