Before the Thunderbirds there was the Skyblazers. Formed in 1949 from members of the 22nd fighter squadron of the 36th fighter wing in Europe. They began flying the F-80 Shooting Star, but moved on to the F-84 Thunderjet and finally, and most famously, to the F-86 Saber. The team performed over 250 demonstrations in Europe and became the seed of what was to become the Air Force Thunderbirds demonstration team. Airframe Only Version - Includes ducted fan. Our F-86 has a 27-1/2" wingspan and is 27-1/2" long with a 17 oz. flying weight. Pre-painted and designed for simple everyday flying, the model is hand launched and lands on the reinforced drop tanks. The F-86 Skyblazers is also available in an Almost Ready to Fly version. Technical Specifications: | Length: | 27-1/2" | | Wingspan: | 27-1/2" | | Flying Weight: | 16-1/2 oz. | | Controls: | Ailerons, Elevator, Throttle |

I wrote a more detailed review for the ARF version of the F-86, but wanted to note that when I received the F-86 (airframe only), the ply board was glued in backwards. In other words, the servo slot was up near the nose, the battery strap was toward the rear where the servo slot should've been. Obvious QC overlook. I had to push the board out and re-glue it using Gorilla glue, wasn't happy about having to spend the extra time and effort to fix this issue.
For those using more powerful motors, such as the 4800Kv Wicked, I recommend the nip-tuck to get the extra 10-15mph out of the airframe. The stock exhaust opening is too large, diameter needs to be reduced by 1/2" for the airframe to fly adequately. Drop tanks tend to tear off on landings, recommend securing them with strong magnets as gluing them (even with a strong glue like Gorilla glue) doesn't work so well...

This is a nice kit. Do yourself a favor and buy HL's 5000kV ERC EDF motor for it and a 40A ESC. Makes a good jet, a great jet. Hand launches better and top speed much higher.
