This is my first electric. I'm no expert at all, only tried R/C for about 2 years back in the mid 60's. The Firebird was a great surprise. For someone with little or no experience it was easy to get it into the air. I was able to fly around a bit and tried to land. Landings, not something I can do well yet. The plane hit the ground at full power nose down. It came apart as designed. I put it back in the air and hit a pine tree. Again I was able to put back together and launch it into the air. Next I landed hard into a corn field. This time both props came off. Each and every time I was able to get it back in working order, with some glue help. Even with the crashes I had a blast. By the third day I made a few pretty good landings. This plane can take some pretty had pounding. Well worth the money.

The only real issue was that the linkage started to slip after a very hard hit. Took a little time to fix that but its back in the air.

Back in the day my balsa wood plane would be in a basket after the second crash.

What I found out is that getting some help\training from someone more advanced would make it easier and less stress on the plane. I will look at local clubs to see if they can help me.

I grew up building and flying gas powered aircraft. When the first child came along sadly the hobby room, became a nursery. There was no longer time to build and work on those gas powered messes. I missed flying these past few years, so I made an impulse buy on this electric airplane.

The kit went together in about 20min, which was so much more enjoyable than the months I spent building kits before. I also liked just carrying an airplane, remote, and spare battery to the park. I used to have to haul a mess of fuel bottles, pumps, hot start, starter battery and too many other items.

I’ve never flown electric, but I was thoroughly impressed with the performance, speed, and maneuverability. Steering on the ground was minimal, but there was adequate control to get it into the air. At full throttle it whizzed by fast, turns were fast and loops were effortless. Half throttle, it was just a gentle glide around the park. Touch and go’s were smooth and easy.

The airplane really seemed to fly itself. Easily 20 min. battery life at medium throttle. It could easily be flown with just throttle and rudder. Overall I loved it, and I have no plans to fly a gas powered airplane again.

I did not need another plane but the hype on this sucked me in. Solid build and great quality. Went together easily in about 20min. No real issue except there is a little metal pin you have to put in to hold the wing in place and the styrofoam from the packing was pushed in the hole and I couldn't get it out to save my life. Made it work. Only been flying a few years but decided to go full throttle on first flight. Took off well and landed well. What blew me away was the power and responsiveness for a 3 channel. It was hauling butt around the field and I flew it high and far with no issues. I can't wait to get a camera on it. If you need a plane I recommend it. If you don't need a plane I recommend it. I believe the hype.
