A micro plane that really FLIES, not like some! On my 2nd (or is it 3rd??) year with it and it's still loads of fun! I fly it in my backyard where there's lots of trees so you know there's a LOT of mishaps. Easily fixed and back in the air in no time! Can sure take a pounding too! Even been caught in a tree for a couple of days WITH rain! Plenty of power, loops are no problem, real radio not IR, and spare parts and support are no problem. HIGHLY recommended!

VERY FUN!
Review by
Eaves, Bryan

Apr 02, 2013
I'm a newbie. I got my first trainer plane (Firebird Stratos) in December and haven't flown it very much due to the weather. About a month ago, I got a Champ hoping to be able to fly it in my yard. It was too fast for my yard, so I wen't with this. I've had many hours on the flight sim trying to get better by summer to set up to a real plane.
This is perfect for my yard! Once I got the hange of it I realized how tight of spaces you can fly this in. My small yard is more than adequate room for having fun with this plane. I've crashed it many times, but it's so light it hardly damages it. Unlike my Champ. If it crashes it's almost always significant damage.
I'm not sure why they recommend it only be flown indoors. The wind in March here in Nashville has been no problem for flying this outdoors. Of course I have to fight the wind wiht stalls and such, but that's part of the fun. It only takes a little while to develop the instincts to know how to fly this in the wind and in my opinion have more fun doing it than flying it indoors with no wind at all. So, I absolutely recommend buying it for the purpose of only outside flying if that's your goal.
I quickly learned that it flys differently from my other planes and the simulator planes. Flying it like those is what made me crash in the beginning. This plane doesn't respond well to gradual movments of the stick as other planes require. It wants sharp agressive movements usually followed by a correction in the opposite direction to keep from crashing. If you go gradual, you cannot fight the wind and you cannot turn the plane in time before you it something. But, that's a part of the fun.
It's super fast and I rarely fly it above 70% throttle unless I"m stalling in the wind. The batteries are still giving me 10-15 minutes per battery, so that's a great amount of flying time without a charge.
I thought the streamer was a bit cheesy until I put it on. It actually makes it much more fun as a visual and helps with orientation when you're doing acrobatics. It's made out of thin paper though. So, don't let it get wet and ruined like I did. That's about it. My crashes have broken the motor mount which was fixed with glue. The wings, tail, and all the delicate foam parts have held up perfectly from being crashed on both cement, grass, and trees.
Great plane that is a lot of fun to fly around in your yard!

Reinforce some spots
Review by
McClure, Scott

Only thing I can add to other reviews is that you might want to add some expoxy to where the right angle plastic front wing boom attaches to the fuse boom. Seems to be a weak spot and has broken on mine twice even when I nosed in soft snow from a few feet high. This time I wrapped some thread and little expoxy around it and seems to be holding well. Also would use a little hot glue or foam safe CA to where the top of the rear wing attachment. If the boom lets go the wing will detach there. Other than that it I have no complaints and it flies great!

I have never flown before in my life, this was literally the first time ever. No flight simulators, no one with me to coach. All on my own. I was flying this thing within two minutes. Granted I wasn't perfect but I got the hang of it fast and easy. The box says its for intermediate to advanced fliers. Obviously that isn't the case. Just go slow and easy and it coasts along nicely.
It really has plenty of power to do some tricks, once I get a little better. Swapping out and charging the batteries is a breeze and keeps you flying non stop more or less.
The parts are a little cheap, I bent up the propeller a bit and cracked a frame bracket. Light enough to take plenty of hits.
If you want instant fun, forgiving learning, and low price, this is it. So much fun.

Great little plane. One thing of note however; the range of the transmitter is about 100 yards before it loses signal and the model will pretty much land itself. I fly outdoors and wish the range was a little greater. Flies very much like my GWS Slowstick, just alot smaller.

Just received the plane, and by the 4th flight the throttle stick broke off. Easily fixable with some super glue. But I would recommend that before you fly this plane reinforce all the glued areas with super glue. This is a great product and great for beginners. This is my first plane and I was able to pick it up very quickly. I like the fact that allmost any damage done to the plane could be fixed with a little glue or tape. Love it.

What a sweet liitle plane! It's a very stable flyer, yet capable of doing crazy aerobatics. I even did an inverted loop my third day flying it. Surprisingly, the micro stik can take a hit or two and keep going. I nose-dived it and flew it into trees several times. I cracked the wing right down the middle, busted a throw, cracked the engine assembly off, and have many other dings and cracks. All these were easily repaired with packaging tape, gorilla glue and toothpicks. The replacement parts are pretty cheap too. I was a beginner, and after three days I feel very confident controlling this great flyer.

We really enjoy this plane. the controls were a little too sensitive, so I lengthened the control horns,
It works much better now (for us). Also added a spacer to motor shaft to reduce end play, motor is much
quieter and gears mesh better. Plenty of power. Good flying time at midrange throttle.
Overall a great fun fly, wife and kids like it too!!
Thanks Hobby Lobby,
Al Scott

After about 5 minutes i figured out how to fly this sucker !!!! Great little plane only problem ive had is the landing gear fell off after the first hard landing and the positive battery lead broke off the mother board after a very light crash....gotta figure how to reattach this ????? I just purchased my second plane i would recommend this plane for first time flyers but go to a park where there is alot of grass and not concrete.

Micro Stik is the plane that this hobby has needed from the start. Completely ready to fly right out of the box ! I wish this technology existed when I was a kid learning to fly RC planes. So easy to to fly with no help needed. You can takeoff and land in the palm of your hand or open up the throttle and do fun aerobatics with it. The plane will climb straight up out of your hand on takeoff or you can use any hard surface for easy touch and go's. The tiny LiPo batteries included with it will power the plane for a considerable amount of flight time. You can even fly this plane in a large living room with some practice. Thank you to the inventor of this plane. I can't stop laughing it's so much fun!

Fun with one, super fun with two! Flies slow enough to easily catch in your hand, or fast and aerobatic enough for some serious streamer combat fun! Or terrorize your dog with 4 foot diameter circles right above their head. Bought one so far, will be getting another for sure. Can't beat it for the price.

2nd THOUGHTS,
I only gave this 2 stars on first review because motor died after one day, BUT >> HOBBY LOBBY sent me a new one, and this one is great. It is extremely responsive and manuverable, although sometimes a bit jerky. It is so light that it is very unlikely to get damaged on hard landings or even crashes (with motor shut down). I have to recommend this neat little plane VERY HIGHLY!

hey steve kukolich! I kniw why your motor wont work. The micro stick has had some faulty servo boards in the past. I had both of my micro stiks fixed by HL.(they gave me 2 new servos) If they isnt it its probably a faulty motor but since it is giving you little bursts of power i think it is the servo box. HOPE THIS HELP Also anyone else with any moving part issues probably have a bad servo too.(My elevator didnt work)

Hello Steve from Arizona. Just call or email Hobby Lobby and tell their customer service person that the motor died and they should replace it at no cost to you since your airplane is less than 30 days old. I have found HL to be super when it comes to helping me with faulty merchandise.
I have 2 Micro Stiks and one motor died after 35 flights and the other just died after around 105 flights. I time each flight to be at least 11 minutes long and those 105 flights came out to be almost 19 and half hours of constant use. Even the motor that died at 35 flights gave me almost 6 hours and 45 minutes of constant flying and it only cost me $5.99 to replace it. (mine was older than one month)
I've been flying RC Helicopters for 3 years and I've gotten bad motors with them too, it just happens sometimes. I wrote to their helicopter forum and had 2 new motors (it was a coaxial heli) within a week. Reputable companies will help you and not make you send your aircraft to China for repairs. Hobby Lobby has always been up front and helpful with me and I feel certain they'll help you too.
Good luck,
canewalker

5 stars from me on this little airplane.
It's just plain cool AND super responsive.
I've been flying electric RC helicopters for over 3 years and decided to try my hand at flying airplanes so I ordered an electric J-3 Cub from Hobby Lobby. It looked too good (scale wise) for me to take out and crash the first time so I ordered a Micro Stik to learn on. Boy Oh Boy what an airplane!!! I have 15 flights of around 8 minutes each (150mah batteries) and it's still going strong. That's 2 hours of constant flight on that tiny motor!
I've gotta admit that I have a Clearview Simulator that I've been practicing on and it has helped immensely.
This Micro Stik will do outside loops (give yourself at least 50 feet of altitude to try it) or hover straight up if you're quick on the rudder and the wind's just right, then it'll power on through that and keep on climbing (on a fresh battery). It turns tighter than one of my helis and will even land in a near hover if you're flying into the wind at low throttle.
Hobby Lobby, I'm impressed.
"You done good" as the lady doctor told Sean Connery at the end of the movie "Outland"! :-)

Wow! just wow!
this is probably the most fun I've ever had with a RC plane, and it didn't cost hundreds of dollars like some of my others either!
In, the daytime, this sucker can flip, fly, and touch-n-go like no tomorrow, its such a blast and then at night, with micro brite lite LED's installed (which i HIGHLY recommend for this plane) i fly at 1/4 throttle real low to the ground and it's a totally different, straight tracking plane
If there is any plane that i could recommend, this would be my top for beginners and experts alike. I'm writing this review because Hobby lobby has really hit a home run here, I'll be ordering another micro stik for sure =D

Micro Stik is a Big Winner

I have been flying indoor micros in a couple of the gyms in our area now for about 1 year. I just got this Micro Stik and I am very impressed with it. As another reviewer stated, mine also had a few bubbles in the finish on the top of the wing, but did not deter in anyway the performance of the plane. I took off on the maiden flight from the large gym floor at full throttle for about 2 feet and the Stik went straight up to the ceiling where I cut throttle and looped it back down about half way for a couple of half throttle loops without losing any altitude. I then slowed it to about 1/4 throttle and flew it around the gym exactly like it was my Ember 2 at half to 3/4 throttle. This one is a winner. Slow fly or fast fly with aerobatic maneuvers, it is your choice. I do wish I could bind it to my DX6i, but that isn't bad enough to drop any of the 5 stars I gave. The little transmitter works fine.
