Beginner's dream! Easiest flying model of all! |
54" wingspan, 35" long, 395 sq. in. wing area, 27 oz. flying weight. Nose of airplane has been lengthened so airplane will balance with today's lighter lithium battery packs. Pre-built and pre-covered all wood airplane. Polyhedral wing makes Miss 2 handle smoothly and provides stability. Flies for over an hour as the airplane floats on the lightest of thermals. Includes good instructions and is easy to assemble. For 3-channels: Elevator, Rudder and Throttle. I have the first gen Miss2 and have had nothing but fun with it. Had the speed 400 on it but went brushless about 8 yrs ago. on a cool day I can fly for about an hour or more. I get tired before the battery runs out. It has been crashed/fixed/crashed/fixed and still fly like a dream. I'm thinking of getting another and adding flaps and ailerons for more control. You can't go wrong with this plane. Even taught my 70 yr old dad to fly with it, it is that stable. Buy and enjoy.

This is my 3rd and final review of this plane. This is a fantastic little plane. I have logged more time with this plane than any other one that I own. If you want to just kick back and have a relaxing day at the flying field, this is your plane. If something happens to it, I will replace with the same plane. I've flown for 32 continuous minutes and still have plenty of battery (2200 mah 3s LIPO) to spare. Would be a great first plane for the beginner.

I must say after my first review and repairing my Miss2 I'm giving it a second review. It's still on the fragile side, but an absolute hoot to fly. At full throttle it goes vertical to what ever altitude you're looking for. Then you shut off the throttle and soar like a mad man. Flight time with a 450 motor and a 2200 3s Lipo is what seems like forever. You're ready to land long before the power runs out. I love it. I suppose if you would sit down while flying you could conceivably fly for at least a half hour or more with good throttle management. Have a ball.

Very fragile plane. It's basically frame in balsa. I would mot recommend this to anyone.

I have three Miss 2 kits, one which was the original 400 powered model that first appeared about 10. Still flies like a champ (though it is now lipo and outrunner powered) and is one of the nicest and most relaxing models I have flown in my 35 years of RC flying. It is inherently stable and forgiving for the beginner but those same attributes make it a relaxing and fun plane for the person looking for a slower-paced plane.
I live on a ridge line in Phoenix, AZ. My street runs right down the ridge and I fly my Miss 2 off the street. Dangerous! Like flying off an aircraft carrier! Land in the weeds and you are messing with 14-foot saguaro cacti!!! I need a nimble plane with a good glide ratio to make it back safely! The Miss 2 delivers!
On a calm day, I can get right into thermal lift and shut the motor down for flights well over an hour. When bored with soaring, the little plane will do relaxing loops and barrel rolls if you are smooth on the controls and keep the speed down. Deadstick landings are a joy! So is landing pattern practice.
One note: Both my assembled Miss 2s use tail skids, unlike the tail wheels in the newer kits. The gear geometry on the older kits (and it appears the newer ones as well) is reminiscent of the Old Timer Texaco planes of the 30's and 40's. What that means is the main gear is located well in front of the plane to protect the fuselage in out landings. Old Timers were meant to be hand launched, and the Miss is happiest when hand launched too. On the ground, it is a ground-looping machine because the gear is so far out in front of the CG that, on the ground, it acts like an arrow going backwards through the air. (All tail draggers do but this one is accentuated by the gear being mounted so far forward, 'ala Texaco free flight planes.)
Is this a problem? Not at all. In fact, in my case, it makes for shorter landing rolls on my street! I just land uphill and kick a little rudder on rollout and the little plane cuts a quick cookie and stops! You can still do "bounce and go's" for landing practice, just don't plan on letting the plane be on the ground for long. If you are flying off grass, the plane won't roll far at the speeds it lands at anyway.
Great flier. Awesome thermal plane! Easy to repair. Strong and powerful with an outrunner.
Like I said, I have three. A neighbor taught himself to fly on a Miss 2 a decade ago and is on his fourth!
LOVE the little plane! I suspect you will too!
