What can I say? This Parkzone P-51D Mustang is the best, absolute best for your first 4-channel airplane. My father got me this as my first 4-channel airplane, and I ultimately failed. After about 5-10 crashes, stuck on the roof, dented wing I finally got it under control.
When you do a hard crash, it will break, but not shatter. I got it stuck on the roof and severely dented the wing. I fixed it with a 1.5 inch balsa stringer and taped it on. I snapped the rudder and elevator off. Fixed it with glue and the patience of 2 hours. The gear came off. Glued.
I started off with a Mini Super Cub (from Hobby-Lobby), then to a Champ (also from Hobby-Lobby), then to this and I have improved greatly since I got the Cub last July. Hobby-Lobby, you haven't let me down!

DO NOT WASTE YOUR MONEY ON THIS AIRPLANE !!! It flies beautifully, and it's great fun to fly, but after a few flights the esc malfuntions and all you have left is a great looking little airplane with full function of all control surfaces, BUT NO THROTTLE !!!! I guess you could throw it off of a high cliff and fly it like a glider, but better to save your money and but something that you will enjoy flying for more than a few flights.
.........................put 'em in the air and keep 'em there............flyboy

It hurts my pride a bit to admit this, but the P-51 (with judicious--meaning LOTS of--exponential control settings) is the best indoor flier I have ever taken to our gym, including the ones I built myself. It is absolutely honest, meaning that does what you expect, unlike its Sukhoi hangar-mate. If you can remember that it doesn't take full power to take off, and do much of your flying at or below half throttle, it is quite manageable. It slows down wonderfully well, and ultra-smooth landings are a relatively easy accomplishment that will impress any of your fellow fliers who haven't had a chance to fly the P-51.
In addition, inexpensive spare parts availability makes it easy to adapt the excellent receiver/servo and power systems to other small indoor models you might build. The servo output is MUCH stronger than the magnet-coil "actuators" that previously characterized and limited models in this size range.
Overall, I think the micro series from Park Zone are a great addition to the indoor flying part of the hobby.

This is a great little airplane. It is very responsive in the "expert" mode and harder to over correct in the "novice" mode. This is a great airplane for the less experienced pilot because it is made of foam and very durable. The advanced pilots will love the way it handles. I use mine to hone my skills when it is too cold or too windy to fly outside. It does fly very well outside too, but can't handle any more than a 5 to 10 mph wind. I got mine for Christmas and have already gotten more flight time than some of my bigger planes.

This little ready to fly warbird is a real pleasure to fly! It is also REALLY ready to fly out of the box. Just load the included AA batteries into the battery charger...charge the included flight battery...snap it into its holder on the belly of the plane and take off!
Be sure to use low rate when learning to fly this plane because it is a bit sensitive. I am an experienced intermediate 4-channel flyer and had no trouble flying after about 2 minutes of getting used to the controls. After the maiden flight I put it on high rate on my Spektrum 5 and it flys great. It rolls, loops and flies upside down. It's not like true Mustang because they put some under camber on wing to make it more forgiving so it sort of wallows as it rolls and it does slow loops and is a challenge to keep upside down (at least for me) but it is a true joy to fly. It handles wind fairly well. Make sure you fly in calm winds until you get used to the controls but after that you can fly in up to 10 mph with no problem. All of the stock throws were spot on. I changed nothing.
The only reason I didn't give it 5 stars is the landing gear. I landed a bit hard once and the left gear and it's mounting came right off. The good news is that with 5 minute epoxy it was fixed almost immediately. Also, somewhere in my 5 flights I cracked the rudder stabilizer diagonally from root to tip. I was mortified. But good news...I just got out my trusty 5 minute epoxy and a toothpick and lined the inside of the crack and then put some aileron tape on each side of the crack and secured to elevator stabilizer and it has been flying great ever since. It can be flown in the area of a medium parking lot or back yard. But it's really fun at the flying field to watch the faces of the big nitro flyers watch this little 'stang go through its paces!
Enjoy and get one soon...you won't be sorry.
