Small UHU Sailplane, 10-Pack
10 pack of Der Kleine UHU. Free-Flight model for handlaunch, hi-start, or tow-release. 42.7" wingspan, 33.5" long, weighs 9.5 ounces. The sailplane "Der Kleine UHU" (translation: "the small UHU", or "the small owl") excels by its ease of assembly. Many prefabricated components allow the model to be assembled quickly and successfully. Thanks to the clever combination of various functional elements, only a small number of injection-molded parts is required. The two fuselage half-shells are very robust structures thanks to generous ribbing; they are used to anchor the tailboom firmly. The wing is keyed to the fuselage platform, ensuring a proper fit, flight after flight. The model may be flown with or without an optional dethermalizer timer. Space for the accommodation of the timer is provided in the fuselage shells.
The polyhedral wing is built with conventional rib-and-spar construction. Tissue paper for covering the model is included. The smooth underside of the wing, devoid of any protuding parts, makes for ease of assembly and transport. The robust hard balsa main spar located at the top of the wing has been generously dimensioned; it also acts as kind of a turbulator and in this manner helps increase the lift generated by the wing.
