My first review was 2 star because the plane would not fly over 100yrds at full throttle until it eventually lost altitude and crashed. I sent the plane back to Hobby-Lobby and received a brand new one, no real explanation as to what was wrong with the first.

Reading up more online about the plane I find it runs best on a 2200mAh 3s with a high C rating (around 40-60). I had made these adjustments and ran it on a 2200mAh 3S 45c (60 Max), EDFs require the higher C rating because they are power hungry. The jet finally flew, with plenty of power under stock motor/amp.

All in all its a good jet. It advertises 75mph which seems a little high unless your in a dive, I haven actually clocked it though.

Another reviewer on here said start with 60% ailerons and 80% elevator, I agree fully. At 100% expo the plane is super quick to react, the video shows how quickly it rolls.

One downside to its construction is after each flight something had given way. My nose broke off after hitting some soft dirt at the field during landing. The middle piece used to hide the elevator/rudder wires truly needs to be taped or glued down. And last flight during landing the tail section came lose from the fuse, the screw stripped from the foam. That is an easy fix as well with some glue or tape. Granted I fly over a plowed field with 2-3foot tall grass, not the most ideal landing surface.

I bought this and put a 1800mah 3s, the plane needs more weight up front like everyone said. It seems under powered, when I do manage to get it in the air its for a short while b4 she loses altitude. Not sure if thats a battery issue or the esc/motor.

I'm on my second one now. First one, I trimmed down the elevator for first flight and it speed across the park losing altitude untill, crash. The nose broke. I kept flying it for another few batteries. so much fun. I had a ziploc bag of screws jammed in the nose to get the proper cg. The bag broke on the first crash and tiny nuts and bolts went wizzing into the fan and destroyed it a few flights later.. Hey, I needed CG and I had a bag of screws.. what else to do..

Now on my second, I knew better, I shoved 4 AA batteries up there taped in pairs. You really need some weight up there... I'm using a nano tech 1800 miliamp battery.. It flew great. about 6 flights laterI did land hard after battery gave out.. it drops like a brick when you lose speed.. landed nose first and broke it off.

It does fly fast and fun, but it really does wear quickly.. I'm going to keep flying mine noseless and will order another fuselage.. I'm actually thinking about diping the forward part of the plane in resin to streghten the nose. would be nice if the maunfacture made a nose cone that went up much further than the 1 inch one. heck with 4 AA batteries up there I could form a sheet of titanium for the nose and have proper cg immidiately...

If you have a drawer full of 3S 2200 lipo packs, then you must buy this little jet. It is easy to launch, it flys very well, and it is fun.
When balanced per the instructions it required 3/4oz of lead in the nose. The instructions mention no throws. But 90% elevator and 60% ailerons will get you started. My ESC kept overheating, (Houston in August, 100 degrees). I had to raise the battery to allow enough cooling airflow for the ESC. That fixed the problem.

Bought this edf because of the price. H.L. had it on sale for like $90 + it's a good looking jet. I've been flying edf's for a couple of years now,I have the f-86 sabre,f9f panther and my buddy Steve has the mig-15.All fly great,the panther being the most timid do to its straight wings.The stinger jet is a utter hot rod in comparison.This jet has a unbelievable roll rate. Every one that has seen me fly this thing have been wowed by the roll rate. The speed of jet is fast. Even though it's bigger & heavier than the sabre it's much faster. This has got to be due to it's superior aerodynamics being that it shares the same motor,esc. The battery compartment is rather generous. I'm able to put a turnigy 35/45c 2200mah battery in it's compartment with no problem.It should be noted that the lower speed performance is very forgiving. No bad habits. Just give yourself plenty of room on your final approach to help bleed off speed then just bring her in. Very recommended. Fast agile & has cool swoosh/whistle type sound when flown by at high speeds. Get it,u won't be disappointed.

This was my first EDF, and I wasn't disappointed. Hand launches well (but could use a grip under the wing instead of having to grip the back the the fuse). Give yourself room (50-100yd) for landings because she scoots right along. Can hammerhead, knife edge, split-S, immelman, loop, roll like crazy. Seems like about a .8 to 1 thrust-to-weight ratio which will let you climb out at nearly 60 degrees. The swept tips prevent tip stalls. Keep the speed up in turns and don't pull too much elevator or she'll mush and stall. Helps if your controller has dual rate or expo functions. I got about 25-30 flights before she met a light post head on at full speed. Time for a new fuse...the radio, power system, wing and empennage all seem fine. Servo caps on the wing broke off easy, and the "exhaust" ring fell off after 15 landings, but a little glue fixed this. For the price, it's great for the intermediate pilot. Certainly not a trainer as fast planes require fast decisions and are much less forgiving, but great for training this form when you're ready for something fast! Plus fits in the car fairly well and isn't likely kill anyone if it falls on them, which makes it a great park flyer...for BIG parks...or golf courses.

Documentation does not provide control throws and CG location is Sketchy. First flight in gusty conditions with rates at 100%. Did not have enough rudder.

This is a step above the F86. It has greater maneuverability and a little more power, even though it has the same EDF. As with any jet, the greatest risk is at launch. It needs a good hard throw. Get the landing gear to make it easier. For some reason mine tends to tilt left. I crashed on the third launch. EPO makes it easy to fix.

On the first flights, tone down the ailerons. As with the F86, the ailerons have a lot of power, and it is easy to over-correct. Leave elevators and rudder at full swing.

Without the landing gear it is very tail heavy and required a 1600mah battery and a few lead weights in the nose to balance. It lands very well, and slides a long ways on the ground once landed.

Overall a good learner jet that flies well. We need more of these type jets, HL!

Very nice flier with good speed and handling. As stated in other posts, watch the CG. Had to add 1.5 oz in the nose to balance when using 1600mah battery. BTW, flying weight is more like 22-24oz, don't know how you could reach 19oz as shown in the specs.

Great plane! Fair speed and great control. Flew for the first time in 19mph winds.....kind of light for this speed of wind but it still performed:)

Got this when they came back in stock. It is a really nice flying sport jet. Watch the balance as is stated in the manual and it flies like it should. My 1550mah battery made it a bit tail heavy so stay with the recommended 1600-2200. I would say 1800-2200 because of most 1550/1600 packs might have a hard time balancing without adding weight.

Great Job Hobby-Lobby The MG servos really kick it up a notch!!
