Off-road racing Short Course RC race truck |
The Traxxas Slash Short-Course R/C Race Truck puts you in the drivers seat for intense fender-to-fender, high-flying off-road action. The full-scale Short-Course Race Trucks embody the spirit of Traxxas RC with their extreme 800+ horsepower racing engines, full-throttle, dirt-roosting power slides, giant suspension travel, and Supercross-style big-air jumps. The Traxxas Slash brings all the action home so you can experience the high-speed head-to-head competition at the track or in your own backyard.
The Slash was inspired by the CORR (Championship Off-Road Racing) Pro-2 class. The 4-wheel independent suspension has been carefully tuned to replicate the Pro-2 driving and handling experience as closely as possible. The tires use advanced tread design and sophisticated rubber compounds to provide incredible grip off-road with enough versatility to also perform well on concrete and asphalt. The fenders cover the tires for wheel-to-wheel racing without getting tangled up.
The Traxxas Slash is only the second Ready-To-Race model ever to come equipped with Traxxas' exclusive watertight, sealed electronics. They provide the freedom to drive where you want to drive through water, mud, snow, and other wet-running conditions that wouldn’t have been possible before. The Slash is truly brushless-ready with a waterproof digital steering servo, full ball bearings, metal gear transmission, Torque-Control slipper, planetary gear differential, and high-quality metal turnbuckles. The Traxxas Slash is fully assembled and Ready-To-Race for immediate out-of-the-box racing fun.

I am new to the whole Radio Control world. I am not a hobbyist, but just looking for something fun to run around when I get bored. First let me say that I am over 40 guy and 3 kids, so I guess I am still a kid at heart. When looking into a radio controlled car I needed something that a beginner could use. Speed was my main priority , but I also wanted something that would not break on the first wreck I encountered. The Hobby Lobby Team at their Brentwood store were amazing. These guys know RC products. They understood my needs and recommended the Traxxas Slash 2wd truck. I wasn't looking for a truck as I thought a car would have more speed, but after seeing one of these trucks run in the store I was sold.
I purchased my Slash Truck and took it home.......and boy were the Hobby Lobby guys correct. This thing is fast and durable. As a newbie I was flipping, crashing, running into things and this truck just said "Is that all you got, give me more". I beat the crap out of this thing and it took a beating and kept on going. On the street it is fast, well over 30mph. Now that is plenty for a new guy as the steering is a little tricky at that speed so I can't imagine how hard 50+ mph is, but I managed and with some practice will manage to steer it better. I loved ripping it down my street then jumping the curb (Full Speed) and running it through my yard, mulch, rock beds and all over. It just went. The best part was chasing my 3 year old Golden Retriever around the yard. She loved it. On a smooth garage floor you can do some killer donuts and if you have enough room you can do a little drifting....very cool. My kids love it as well. My girls are worse than me at driving and they flip it, crash it and just keep going. It is a blast.
So 2 thumbs up on this Slash truck. I would recommend getting the faster charger. Battery is charged in 45 minutes or less opposed to 3 hours with the other. Also get another battery so when one dies you slap the other one in. Other than that just take it out of the box, charge it and go nuts....you won't regret it.
Also, kudos to Hobby Lobby team.......outstanding recommendation. If your in the area and are into this kind of stuff....stop by and say hi.....they are great people.

I bought the 1/10 Slash for my boy and had to buy one for me too (gotta race). We have had an absolute blast with these cars. I come from the old school RC cars like the Tamiya Frog/Cricket days which were horrible for reliability. That was, drive cars twice fix once routine. The Slash is nothing like those older rc cars. It is not a rinky dink toy (price ought to tell you that). The car is well engineered and very durable. Trust me, I have beat the snot out of these cars with full on headers with no damage. Stock is plenty fast for my boy and me since we are still learning to drive. I would highly recommend going with Lipoly 2 cell packs. I bought four 4900 mah 7.4 volt cells Downside of getting lipoly packs is that you have to be proficient at soldering and have a decent gun/solder pen to solder heavy gauge wire. This proved difficult. Help on soldering can be found on youtube videos. The Slash lipoly runs much much much longer compared to NIMH which in my opinion is ancient technology compared to the new lipolys. In summary:
Pros:
*Excellent running car and well engineered
*Extremely durable
*Parts are readily available including tons of hop up parts (this car is popular)
Cons:
*Nimh stink. Get Lipolys and enjoy the longer runs and more time driving. Downside of lipolys is the need to modify the battery compartment slightly depending on size of battery and need to solder.
In summary, This car is a five star product given the high performance and durbility factor. I did buy from Hobby Lobby and have never had any complaints. Enjoy.

This truck is awesome straight out of the box! Would recommend using 7 cell batteries to get maximum running performance, but still is really fun to run with 6 cell.
